North Star Bar Recap

May 7th, 2008 by The Hulihees

It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood on Sunday night as The Hulihees rocked the North Star Bar. Kicked off with an outdoor band dinner at Bishop’s Collar and followed by a set by the very interesting Little Ruth Busey, the Hulihees took the stage for a modest but enthusiastic Sunday night crowd - and then stuck around for an amazing set by Atlanta’s Gringo Star (HIGHLY recommended!) and local heroes Long Walk Home, who we played with last Fall at the Tritone (sharing an impromtu jam on Frank Zappa’s “Camarillo Brillo”). Our next show will be a stripped-down affair at Milkboy Coffee’s newest location in Bryn Mawr on June 7th for the “Artstravaganza”…more details to follow in another post. See you there!

We finally got the running order for the show on Sunday night, and have learned we’ll be going on at 9:30 (playing approx. 45 minutes). So, that will give you plenty of time to get home and iron your bedclothes before retiring for a full, good night’s sleep on that workday’s eve. See you there!

April 9th, 2008 by The Hulihees

Hello everyone! it has been quite some time since we have posted anything new, but we are blowing the dust off our derby hats and having very productive coughs, gearing up for a summer of shows with a slimmed-down lineup and a few new tunes. We’ve got at least 3 shows currently in the planning stages, the first of which we can now confidently announce: we’ll be playing the legendary North Star Bar on Sunday, May 4th. We’ll be posting more when we know the exact details as far as time and complete lineup, but the show is a done deal - so put it on your calendars!

New Recording Posted

Anyone who has been to a Hulihee show has been delighted from note one of the performance. And each time that note began the classic hit “Don’t Be Mad” by The Hulihees. Well the gang spent some time in the studio delighting engineers and producers alike with a fun rendition of the diddy. And they loved it so much, they recorded it. And now it’s posted on the world wide web for your auditory approval. Featuring the full lineup, it’s sure to make you want to shake your body parts. Hulihees Lineup Change; Post-Grape Street

September 23rd, 2007 by The Hulihees

Ah, we wish we were simply razzing you, Hulihee fans. However, Michelle Fiore announced on Saturday eve that she and her new husband Joe will be loading up their ‘32 Chevrolet Confederate Deluxe Special and pointing it toward the great state of Arizoney - by mid October, no less. So alas, the last stand for The Hulihees 1.0 ended up being at Grape Street Philadelphia on 9/22. A picture of the event is posted below, with Michelle already fading from the picture…(do you dare go back in time in your Delorean to try to fix it?!?)

What does this mean for the future of the band? Well, we have a new website, don’t we?!? That should tell you somethin’!

Seriously, we’ll surely continue on in one form or another and are already looking into new shows - our sound will no doubt change, and we have yet to talk about exactly how that will shake out…but with babies on the way and the aforementioned lineup change afoot, we’re probably looking at some interesting combos over the next 4-6 months. Come join us for the ride, and check back often for updates!

Most importantly, a grand huzzah for Michelle Fiore - once, and always, a Hulihee! We will miss you.
